There are two pieces of physics to understand blocks and tackles: 1) Tension (force) on both sides of a block must be equal, otherwise it would equalize. 2) Since W = F * s (where W - work, F - force, s - distance), you can do the same work by trading force for distance. For example with one block attached to the thing you're pulling and one end of rope anchored, you're using half the force, but have to pull twice as much rope to move the thing the same distance.

Twenty year old O rings holding back the vacuum of space and I can't even get the O ring on my best flashlight to hold back water in my sink after six months. Sounds like NASA has O rings as good as their 30 year old batteries that were made to last at the most 5 to 7 years in space but are by some miracle still working just fine after 30 years in the cameras that are taking better quality photos than they did 30 years ago at the far reaches of our solar system??? So, while we are talking "science", you do realize that you can't just "hook" up anything to a nuclear reactor to get electricity........right ? A reactor merely generates heat energy in a primary loop, which in turn heats up water in a secondary loop to form steam for a turbine generator which is what creates your electricity.

I remember the first time I rode a proper super bike motorcycle with 205 hp at the rear wheel, and the power it had on acceleration made me almost black out. 205 hp doesnt sound like a lot but it is for a bike that barely weighs 400lbs and a 190 lb rider. 0-60 on it is about 2.3 seconds. people are hitting 185 mph on these in 16 seconds from a standing start. i had never experienced such force before. it got kind of dangerous because I'm out on a public road. I only took it up to about 45 mph but I had to fight it to stay awake for a second after rolling off the throttle. now it doesn't even begin to bother me. kind of like what she is saying. you get used to it.
